Tesco executives face ire at AGM

Tesco executives were confronted with protests outside and inside its AGM last week, as activists accused them of putting the squeeze on farmers in Britain and suppliers overseas to rack up its profits of £1.6bn.

Friends of the Earth released a report accusing Tesco of breaking the Ethical Trading Initiative code of conduct, to which it is a signatory, by pushing payments to suppliers to below subsistence levels in South Africa and Latin America.
